2019年4月22日，我院英语16403班陈梦媛进行课前十分钟演讲，演讲主题为朗费罗《我逝去的青春》。

《我逝去的青春》是美国诗人朗费罗的一首短诗。

在朗费罗辞去教师这份工作的第二年,他曾经回到自己出生的地方,即波特兰市,这里是他一直念念不忘的地方。据了解,当他回到自己家乡时,他不但去过曼乔伊山,在这里一边散步一边享受明媚的阳光,而且他还游览过劳伦斯堡,曾趴在地上聆听海浪拍打岸边的声音等。在这里度过的每一分钟都让他感觉到快乐、舒服。在阳光照射的午后,他可以放松身心欣赏海上来来往往的船只,看着它们在碧绿蓝天的大海上穿梭,像一片白色的羽毛般美丽动人。在这古堡里,他可以感受到浓浓的诗意,而且这座古堡是他在痛失亲人之后唯一可以得到一丝安慰的地方,他把家乡与这片海的宁静融入他的诗里。于是,他想写一首诗,用来表达他对家乡的热爱,但他一直都没有找到创作灵感。一直到1855年,他的目标终于实现,由他创作的《我逝去的青春》刊登在《葡南月刊》上,之后又在其他月刊上发表。这首诗刊登之后,他非常高兴,他在日记里有过记载,大致意思是:一天的忙碌之后,坐在火的旁边。到了夜里,当他躺在床上时,一股波特兰——我的家乡——一座美丽的滨海城市涌现脑海。于是,他创作了这首《我逝去的青春》。这让他感到无比兴奋,以致到后来回忆时都会津津有味。可见,波特兰市,不但记载了朗费罗年少的快乐时光,也承载了他痛苦的回忆。也基于此,波特兰市让他创作出了令世人赞颂的短诗,从此开辟了他在文学领域的道路。

在《我逝去的青春》短诗中,朗费罗把他脑海中的家乡面貌进行了详细描述。他的家乡,不但有一排排枝繁叶茂的树木,而且还可以看见波澜壮阔、闪闪发光的海洋。此外,还有极乐世界般的岛屿,给他的童年增添了很多梦想。这里记载着朗费罗年少时期的渴望与理想,也由此突显诗人的浪漫主义情怀。诗人在家乡的那首古老而又神奇的歌谣上注入了很深的情感,就好像爱人一般在耳边喃喃吟唱,就好像在诉说自己内心的秘密。读者在阅读这节诗时,不但会体会到作者家乡的魔力,还会领会到诗人对自己家乡的无限思念。

My Lost Youth is a short poem by Longfellow, an American poet.

In the second year of Longfellow's resignation as a teacher, he returned to his birthplace, Portland, which he had always remembered. It is understood that when he returned to his hometown, he not only went to Mount Manjoy, where he enjoyed the sunshine while walking, but also visited Lawrence Castle, lying on the ground listening to the sound of the waves beating the shore, and so on. Every minute he spent here made him feel happy and comfortable. In the sunny afternoon, he can relax and enjoy the boats coming and going at sea, watching them shuttle in the blue sky, like a beautiful white feather moving. In this castle, he can feel the strong poetry, and this castle is the only place where he can get a little comfort after his bereavement. He integrated the tranquility of his hometown and the sea into his poems. So he wanted to write a poem to express his love for his hometown, but he never found inspiration for his creation. Until 1855, his goal was finally achieved. His "My Lost Youth" was published in the "Putnam’s Monthly Magazine" and later in other monthly magazines. After the poem was published, he was very happy. He had recorded it in his diary, which roughly means that after a busy day, he sat beside the fire. At night, as he lay in bed, a beautiful coastal city of Portland, my home town, came to mind. So he wrote the poem My Lost Youth. It made him so excited that he would enjoy it when he recalled it later. It can be seen that Portland not only records Longfellow's happy youth, but also carries his painful memories. Based on this, the city of Portland let him create short poems which are praised by the world, and thus opened up his way in the field of literature.

In the short poem My Lost Youth, Longfellow gives a detailed description of his homeland in his mind. In his hometown, there are not only rows of lush trees, but also magnificent and sparkling oceans. In addition, there are paradise-like islands, which add a lot of dreams to his childhood. Longfellow's aspirations and ideals in his youth are recorded here, which also highlights the poet's romantic feelings. In this short poem, the poet poured deep emotions into the old and magical ballad in his hometown, like a lover murmuring and singing in his ear, as if he were telling his inner secret. When reading this poem, readers will not only realize the magic of the author's hometown, but also understand the poet's infinite yearning for his hometown.
